About Local Happenings

We started Local Happenings because we were tired of scrolling through big event sites that show the same major attractions and permanent exhibitions. We wanted to find the real local stuff โ€” the school fete around the corner, the sausage sizzle at the park, the family fun day at the community centre.

How it works

๐Ÿ”

We find events

Our system automatically scans community groups, council pages, and event sites to find family-friendly happenings across Melbourne.

๐Ÿงน

We filter

We use smart filtering to keep only the genuinely local, community and family-friendly events โ€” no big commercial events, no nightlife, no permanent attractions.

๐Ÿ“

You discover

Browse by category, suburb, or date to find what's happening near you. Simple, clean, no clutter.

For event organisers

Running a local event? We'd love to feature it! You can submit your event here and we'll add it to the site. It's completely free.

If we've already added your event automatically, you should have received an email from us. If anything looks wrong, just reply to that email and we'll fix it up.

Want your event featured?

We're working on ways for event organisers to boost their visibility. If you're interested, get in touch and we'll let you know when this is available.

Built for Melbourne families

Local Happenings is focused on family-friendly community events in Melbourne, Australia. Whether it's a school fete, a park playgroup, or a neighbourhood festival โ€” if it's something you'd take the kids to, we want it here.
