The Yellow Wallpaper is a premiere production from Knotted Theatre Company, devised from Charlotte Perkins Gilman's 1891 short story and staged at Gasworks Creative Precinct for Melbourne Fringe Festival. Physician John prescribes his wife three months of bed rest in a countryside room papered in a hideous yellow, while he spends the summer with visiting family. With nothing to do but study the wallpaper, she begins to notice it moving. The play asks whether the prescription is healing her or driving her towards madness.
